Who run the world? GIRLS! Happy International Women’s Day from Links International!

Happy International Women’s Day! Although not widely officially celebrated in Asia, International Women’s Day is a very important day to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women across the world – past, present and future!Across our recruitment and HR outsourcing teams in all our offices across Asia, women make up 75% of our workforce. No disrespect intended to our male colleagues, but it’s probably fair to say that without us women, Links wouldn’t be quite the same award-winning recruitment and HR outsourcing company that it is today! If we look at managerial positions at Links, women make up 60% of these.

To mark this special day, we have asked a few of our ladies to comment on what International Women’s Day means for them:

Bella Khan, Associate Director of HR Outsourcing for North Asia:

‘International Women’s Day for me means stepping closer to gender equality, inclusion, opportunities and empowerment. Women rock!’

Alejandra Greenwood, Marketing Manager:

‘I can sum up what International Women’s Day means by quoting from a couple of authors. Firstly, William Golding, the author of Lord of the Flies, famously said: “I think women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men; they are far superior and always have been.” This is backed up by the American author Erick Gray when he said: “Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.”

‘Apply this to the workforce and, as shown by the fact that three quarters of Links is made up of women, success is inevitable. Now it would be rude not to quote from the Spice Girls: Girl Power!’

Tracy Leung, Manager of Sales & Marketing Recruitment in Hong Kong:

‘I truly appreciate the opportunities and environment in this civilised city for women. May women continue to be celebrated across the world for all of our achievements to date and those still to come.’

Phoebe Wong, Associate Director of HR Outsourcing for Southeast Asia:

‘I am continually impressed by the number of women who are able to rise through the ranks of the corporate world, whilst still managing their personal lives and running their families. Hats off to us women and Happy International Women’s Day to all!’

Aily Foo, Manager of Temporary and Contract recruitment in Hong Kong:

‘It’s often easy for people’s hard work to go unnoticed, especially the “weaker” sex. That’s why it’s important that we celebrate International Women’s Day, so that we can all (women included) stop and appreciate the achievements that women make to our businesses, to society and to the world! In the words of Beyonce, “Who run the world? GIRLS!”’

Clara Lam, Manager of Human Resources and Administration Recruitment, Hong Kong

‘Let’s celebrate the power of women! May all women be free to express, create, live and achieve. As the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day states: Be Bold For Change! I’m proud of all women!’

And finally, a word from Nick Lambe, our Group Managing Director:

‘I’m extremely proud to be leading such a talented, driven and successful group of ladies who excel in both their professional and personal lives. It is humbling to see how you manage to be mothers, wives and leaders and are highly successful in all of these with such ease. Happy International Women’s Day to all!’
